Re-creating Traditional Animation in Computer Animation

abstract

Through the constraints and limitations of traditional animation, these set-backs ironically allowed many animators to flourish and produce creative and expressive works. This report details the similarities and differences between the principles and techniques of traditional 2D animation and modern 3D computer animation by studying relevant case study examples. After discussing these examples I will detail the process I have undertook to create my own animation re-creating an existing traditional animation to 3DCG. It is without a doubt that animation styles and practices have evolved through time, with changing trends and shift towards the technology age being the main factor.
