Limited Budget Compositing

View all projects

By Ben Thompson

abstract

The concept of this project was to research the differences between high and lower budget compositing effects and the techniques that can be utilised on a low budget production to achieve effects similar to that seen in feature films.

The practical project focuses on creating a short piece of compositing, which demonstrates a feature of film special effects, which is not commonly seen in lower budget work, such as television. This uses techniques found in the research aspect of the project to create a piece utilising alternative solutions to techniques found in high budget effects.

The report includes the findings of the research as well as documentation and analysis of the project undertook, which is fully illustrated and due to its electronic nature contains all of the elements of the project and in addition the final composited piece.
