An Investigation into character setup for fight scene Animations

View all projects

By Robert Stipp

abstract

The goal of this project is to investigate, create and analyse the creation of a rig. The rig is special, in that it needs to accommodate more extreme motions and poses than a regular rig. The movements of a character doing high kicks, ducking or rolling on the floor will need a much more robust rig than that of a character who simply needs to walk around.

The project will firstly cover basic setup and creating the rig. It will also look at problematic deformations, and implementing some fixes, while outlining other methods that could be used to similar effect. The rig will be tested by means of an animation clip. The clip will be based on video reference. The idea is to get hands on experience of using the created rig, this gives a good impression of its’ successes and failings. In the creation of this piece of motion reference, deformation problems should become apparent.
