the ncca is the leading UK centre for teaching production
and research in computer animation and digital effects
The fundamental philosophy of The National Centre for Computer Animation is that the field of computer animation represents the marriage between art and science and that practitioners in this innovative and exciting field need a good understanding of both the creative and the technical processes involved.
Since its establishment in 1989 we have pioneered both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in computer visualisation and animation, conducted research of international significance and pioneered the production of computer animated simulation rides in the UK. Students and staff have had their work screened internationally and have gained numerous prizes.
In 2012 we were awarded The Queen’s Anniversary Prize. A special video about the NCCA was made to mark the occasion.
