Glitch Art – Disruption of the visual image

abstract

“Every act of creation is first of all an act of destruction.” — Pablo Picasso

This project’s objective is to explore the disruption of the digital image as a mean to expose its sincere aesthetics. Analysing the work of contemporary artists such as photographer Brittany Nelson and Glitch Artists Nick Britz and Rosa Menkman, I intent to frame this work in a setting of discontent towards traditional practices and established infrastructures. Digital culture is undeniably becoming an intrinsic part of our life, influencing users and artists to shift towards a less condescending and critical way of operating. Therefore I think that it is contextually relevant to portray the substance of the digital Image under the inspiration of this modern awareness.
