abstract

In this study I wanted to understand the movement of an extinct creature and modify its motion to analyse the effects it has on the perception we have of this creature. I tried to re-create the motion of an Albertosaurus as faithfully as I could and then, keeping the same rig, I applied the typical behaviour of a dog to it. I then analysed through a poll the reactions of a range of people going from casual people to experts in the field of animation to discover if the different types of movement have any effect on the perception we have of the Albertosaurus. For example, if the motion sends signals we know for a fact are not threatening, does it make us change the perception we have of this creature?
