An Experimental Investigation into Deriving Procedural Creation of Abstract Images form Photographs

Abstract:
This project constitutes an investigation into the possibilities of procedurally generating abstract compositions with the artistic styles of artists Roberto Matta, Wassily Kandinsky and J.M.W. Turner as a goal. All results are derived from an source image, which works as a seed from which patterns, variation and colour can be extracted and built upon. The investigation involves exploring concepts of computer vision and image processing, as well as my own artistic direction and development.
