Geometric Emphasis of Motion

Henry Turner

featured project

Abstract:

Due to the precise nature of Computer Graphics, animation can often seem too rigid with motion hard to distinguish. Without effects applied after the rendering process a still frame extracted from a Computer Animation can look very static. For example, a still of a character can look motionless as though posing. In this essay a method of emphasizing motion is proposed. It operates without any post-production effects so that the motion can be interpreted through one frame of animation. The aesthetics of the piece are also of key importance.
