Lighting and Rendering Synthetic Objects into Real Scenes

Alexander Seaman

featured project

Abstract:

One of the biggest problems in placing synthetic objects into real scenes depends on the lighting cast upon them. Correct lighting is one of the major parts involved in believably rendering and compositing synthetic objects to match the scene within which they are placed. In order to do this particular attention must be given to one, or a combination, of lighting attributes; for example, direction, colour and intensity, all of which will contribute to the believability of the object placed within the scene. This paper investigates these lighting attributes and will suggest possible solutions best suited to address the problem.
